The article substantiates directions for updating the specialization models of livestock enterprises in Ukraine, considering modern economic, military, market, and institutional challenges, and identifies effective organizational and functional forms of their implementation in the conditions of the agricultural sector’s transformation. Trends in the development of specialization among livestock production enterprises are revealed. It is emphasized that the specialization of livestock enterprises in Ukraine is at a stage of transformation. It is concluded that despite the reduction of traditional areas, the industry demonstrates the potential for further development through the intensification of production, the introduction of innovations, and support from the state. The key factors for success in the future are identified as adaptation to changing market conditions, increased environmental responsibility, and the digitalization of processes. It is substantiated that specialization models in livestock farming are transformed by: military risks and business relocation; changes in the structure of consumption (domestic demand and exports); requirements for sustainable production and animal welfare; and digitalization and technological modernization. The directions of deepening the specialization of livestock enterprises have been formed: determining the optimal ratio between different areas of livestock farming (dairy, meat cattle breeding, poultry farming, pig farming, etc.) depending on resource supply; restoring or creating specialized farms taking into account zonal location; introducing agricultural and livestock clusters in which feed, organic fertilizers, energy and waste are processed in a closed cycle; developing one’s own feed base as a condition for economic stability. The author’s definition of the term “models of specialization of livestock enterprises” is given – these are structural and organizational types of livestock farming activities, which are determined by the predominant type of product, the nature of production processes, the level of integration, market orientation, technological structure, and resource base of the enterprise. The models of specialization in livestock enterprises, which differ in the leading area of economic activity, the level of technological integration, the scale of production, market orientation, environmental orientation, and spatial structure, are generalized. The most common models, based on an economic approach, are mono-industry, combined (multi-industry), integrated (full-cycle), export-oriented, cooperative, organic (ecological), and local or niche. It is concluded that improving specialization models in modern agro-industrial production should be a key factor in increasing the competitiveness of the livestock industry. To ensure effective implementation of this process, it is proposed to integrate the latest technologies, qualified personnel, state support, and market regulation instruments. It is argued that specialization models should be adaptive and account for the specifics of regional conditions and the dynamics of product demand.
