Some issues of social protection of military personnel in general, and the Security Service of Ukraine in particular, in the challenging conditions of the modern Ukrainian state remain unresolved. This issue is especially relevant today since the reform of the Security Service of Ukraine is currently underway in the state. Therefore, the purpose of the article is to investigate the issues of social protection of military personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine in the current conditions. Having analyzed the current legislation on the social protection of military personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine and the views of scientists in the field under consideration, it is concluded that today in Ukraine, there is an urgent need to increase the level of social protection of military personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine due to the increase in the workload, which will continue to grow. It is noted that today, the main problem remains regulatory and legal regulation since many norms are declarative in nature and do not contain a mechanism for their implementation, which significantly hampers the development of the system of social protection of military personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine. After all, the lack of the necessary regulatory and legal basis for social protection affects the organization and implementation of protection and its personnel, material and technical, organizational and legal, financial and economic support. At the same time, the inadequate level of social protection of military personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine in the current conditions is caused not only by the imperfection of the legislation that should guarantee it but also by the lack of proper state funding, which further contributes to the social insecurity of this category of persons. Considering modern social relations, there are many problems in the social protection of military personnel, and various circumstances and reasons cause them. Therefore, there is a need for further reform of the system of social protection of military personnel of the Security Service of Ukraine to improve their socio-economic situation, as well as adaptation to modern standards and challenges.
