The purpose of the article is to substantiate the theoretical, methodological, and practical foundations of development management of agricultural enterprises based on the modernization of production processes as a key direction for improving their efficiency and competitiveness. The research employs systemic, analytical, comparative, and structural-analytical methods, as well as statistical approaches, to assess the dynamics of production of major agricultural products from 2020 to 2024 and to identify the relationships among land-use scale, resource potential, and the level of development of agricultural enterprises. The results indicate significant differentiation among agricultural enterprises by land size and resource access, the dominance of large enterprises in the land-use structure, and a decline in the production of most crop and livestock products. The article presents the essence of the categories “enterprise development,” “development strategy,” and “modernization of production processes,” which served as the methodological basis for a systemic approach to the management of agricultural enterprise development. A sequence of stages is proposed for developing a strategy for farming enterprises, aimed at achieving sustainable growth, adapting to external environmental changes, and realizing the enterprise’s innovative potential. The scientific novelty of the study lies in generalizing approaches to the development management of agricultural enterprises, considering the need for modernizing production processes, and in refining the logical sequence of stages in the formation of enterprise development strategies. The practical significance of the research results lies in the potential to apply the proposed approach to develop strategies for agricultural enterprises of various scales, enhance management systems, improve resource utilization efficiency, and implement technological innovations. Prospects for further research involve developing mechanisms to support the innovative development of agricultural enterprises.
