Information policy as a component of public administration

The article examines the theoretical and practical foundations of the formation of the state information policy of Ukraine under the conditions of digital transformation and the development of the information society. The article analyzes the essence of state information policy, its role within the system of public administration, as well as its main functions, principles, and strategic objectives. The study identifies the key directions for implementing the state information policy, including the development of information infrastructure, digitalization of public administration, ensuring information openness, harmonization of national legislation with European Union law, support for the national information space, and Ukraine’s integration into the global information environment. Particular attention is paid to the current challenges of implementing information policy, such as digital inequality, insufficient development of information infrastructure, media monopolization, the need to modernize information legislation, and the protection of national information sovereignty. It is substantiated that an effective state information policy serves as a fundamental instrument for strengthening information security, improving the effectiveness of public administration, fostering e-democracy, and supporting the development of a modern digital state. It is advisable to link the prospects of further scientific research with the improvement of public management mechanisms in the field of information policy, the development of modern models of ensuring information security in the context of hybrid threats, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into the public administration system, and the deepening of Ukraine’s integration into the single digital space of the European Union.
