The article examines digital technologies as a key driver of the evolution of the competency-based approach in modern management. It is substantiated that the digital transformation of managerial processes significantly changes the content of organizational activity and creates new requirements for managers’ professional, digital, and socio-behavioral competencies. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate and develop scientific and methodological approaches to the application of digital technologies in the formation and development of managerial competencies within competency-oriented management systems. The methodological basis of the research includes a systemic approach, methods of analysis and synthesis, structural and functional analysis, comparative analysis, and generalization of scientific concepts in the fields of management, human resource development, and digital transformation. The study identifies key groups of digital technologies – HRM and ERP systems, Big Data and business intelligence tools, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms – that have the most significant impact on the transformation of managerial competencies. The results of the study are to substantiate the evolution of the competency-based approach under the influence of digitalization and reveal the transformation of the structure of managerial competencies. An author’s conceptual model of the evolution of the competency-based approach driven by digital technologies is proposed, reflecting the interconnection among digital tools, changes in managerial processes, the development of organizational competencies, and management performance outcomes. The practical significance of the results lies in the potential to use the proposed model and recommendations to develop digital transformation strategies, competency assessment systems, and personnel development programs within enterprises. Prospects for further research include developing quantitative methods to assess the impact of digital technologies on the development of managerial competencies.
