The article is devoted to the issues of developing event tourism as a tool for the socio-economic development of territorial communities. The relevance of the research topic is determined by the need to identify effective mechanisms to enhance the competitiveness of communities amid decentralization of governance, transformation of the economic space, and the growing role of creative and tourism industries in shaping local development. Particular importance is attached to leveraging the event potential of territories to stimulate economic activity, attract investment, develop infrastructure, and foster a positive image of communities. The aim of the study is to improve the theoretical foundations of event tourism development in territorial communities and to develop an approach to forming a system for its development as a tool for sustainable community development. The article examines the evolution of scientific approaches to interpreting event tourism and summarizes the views of both domestic and foreign scholars on the role of events in the development of tourist destinations and territorial branding. It is revealed that event tourism acts as a multiplier for territorial development, ensuring not only the growth of tourist flows but also the activation of entrepreneurial activity, increased investment attractiveness, and the strengthening of communities’ social capital. The study shows that the greatest effect is achieved by integrating event resources with digital technologies and by actively involving the local population in shaping the tourism product. The economic effects of event tourism for key sectors of the economy, including hospitality, transport, catering, trade, creative industries, and services, are systematized. The author’s approach to viewing event tourism as an integrated system for the socio-economic development of a community is substantiated by the interaction among the territory’s event potential, tourism infrastructure, social capital, and digital technologies. A set of principles for the development of event tourism in communities is also substantiated, including sustainability, inclusiveness, partnership, authenticity, digitalization, innovation, economic efficiency, environmental responsibility, social cohesion, and strategic orientation.
