Abstract.

The article considers the essential understanding of the category of “energy security” in terms of changes in all parameters of the national economy. The difference between the energy sphere and other spheres and branches of the national economy in terms of material and technological, microeconomic, permanent, and large-scale, eco-destructive manifestations of its course is explained. It is noted that understanding the change of energy perceptions at the national level changes approaches to the energy sector from subsidy to economically profitable with a high level of competitiveness, sufficient flexibility, and adaptability, finding ways to profitably expand production, transportation, processing, supply and consumption of fuel. The measures applied by Ukraine in the implementation of the Energy Strategy for the period up to 2035 are analyzed: “security, energy efficiency, competitiveness”. The scientific approaches of researchers and scientists to the concept of “energy security”, where there is currently no unanimity on the object, subject, and scope of research. Existing scientific developments are summarized and understanding of the essence of energy security is proposed as the state’s ability to be economically and technically sound to ensure the needs of society in energy resources to further quality and safe energy consumption while protecting national interests of the energy sector. It is proposed to apply systematic and principled approaches to assessing the objectivity of energy security. The content of energy security is determined by analyzing its main components: economic, political, environmental, and social. Proposals have been made to strengthen energy security measures under changing environmental conditions.

Keywords: security, energy sector, national economy, microeconomic approaches, internationalization, industrial development, infrastructure, fuel and energy resources, threats, and challenges.
