Abstract

The problem of measuring economic growth in recent decades becomes increasingly urgent. The reasons for the actualization of this problem are as follows. First, the growing economist’s distrust to the quality of measure the dynamics of inflation, real product and certain derivatives indicators such as labour productivity. Secondly, observed the collapse of a number of seemingly obvious empirical regularities. Thirdly, exacerbated by disagreements over how to measure the dynamics of inflation and real product in terms of acceleration of qualitative changes in the economy.

These reasons indicate a growing inadequacy at statistics of economic growth object of measurement. This inadequacy is not technical in nature. In measuring the dynamics of inflation and real product, modern economic science uses an economic assumption such as axioms, that distort the nature of inflation and real product, and indeed important axiomatic position it either ignores or pushes into the background.

Keywords: economic growth, inflation, the price index, the real product, the distortion indicators.
